If people are closing their businesses, didn’t they do something wrong?

There are many hard working people who have had to close their businesses through no fault of their own. The CPSIA assumes that your products are guilty until proven innocent and only with costly testing can you prove that you comply with the lead and phthalate limits set forth by the law.

In addition to the testing and certification requirements, the tracking and labeling provision of the law is cumbersome and cost prohibitive. There are many companies that will still have to close their doors after meeting the testing and certification requirements, because they simply cannot implement or afford the tracking and labeling requirements for their products.
