CPSIA became law during President Bush’s term, so isn’t he responsible for it?

CPSIA was passed during President Bush’s term, but it was proposed by members of Congress and passed every vote in Congress with a majority so huge that even if President Bush had vetoed it, Congress would have been able to override the veto.

  • We can even give President Bush and the 2008 Congressmen a little “benefit of the doubt” that they didn’t realize all the unintended consequences of CPSIA when they were supporting it last year.

But there is no way the current Congress folks do not know how bad this law is now, and the type of problems it is causing. They are just stubbornly refusing to fix the mess that they have created, and attempting to blame the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
