I thought CPSIA is a toy law, why do you have to test clothes?
While the CPSIA may have been passed as a response to the recall of certain toys that included lead-based paint, the CPSIA was written to include ALL products intended for children under 12. Many people assume it only applies to toys because of the initial media coverage of the 2007 recalls and the subsequent coverage of CPSIA as the “toy law” and its impact on handmade, small, and large toy makers alike.
It is important to remember that the CPSIA includes ALL products made for children under 12 which means that any article of clothing, backpacks, bicycles, children’s motorbikes, blankets, bibs, wooden toys, etc. all fall under the letter of the law.
